Offering clients a powerful combination of elite law firm and Fortune 50 in-house experience

Dyan Gershman is the founder of Gershman Law, PLLC. Dyan has over 25 years experience practicing law in the areas of corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances, technology and intellectual property licensing, equity investments, commercial matters broadly, and “outside General Counsel” services.

Dyan has extensive experience representing Fortune 100 companies, both from working as a senior

corporate and M&A  lawyer at the prestigious international law firm Jones Day (over 8 years), where she also represented large non-US companies, and then in-house at General Electric and Bristol-Myers Squibb (total of 12 years) where she was a senior executive corporate and M&A lawyer. Dyan understands the business needs of companies, as well as the time and cost pressures of in-house legal departments. At Gershman Law and previously, Dyan has also represented many US and non-US mid-market and smaller companies, as well as start-ups and individuals, in a broad range of corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, technology and intellectual property licensing, equity investments, and commercial contracts.

After receiving her JD, cum laude, from Boston College Law School, Dyan joined the New York office of Jones Day. After more than 8 years at Jones Day working in its Corporate Group, Dyan joined Bristol-Myers Squibb’s worldwide headquarters (New York, NY) where she worked for approximately 4 years and was the senior lawyer in charge of all mergers and acquisitions and corporate law matters worldwide.

Dyan then joined General Electric Company’s worldwide headquarters (Fairfield, CT) where she was executive counsel for more than 8 years leading many of GE’s largest and most strategic acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures worldwide, most with a value of $500 million to $2 billion, though some were much larger. Dyan also led transactions in the $100 – $500 million range if they were of key strategic importance.

Dyan founded Gershman Law to build a different kind of law firm, one where personalized attention is a primary focus. Dyan works with a wide range of clients (US and non-US) in diverse industries, leveraging her corporate legal experience and skills garnered over more than 25 years of practice.

Dyan is fluent in French, and lived and worked in France for more than 4 years. Dyan has also traveled extensively throughout Europe, and parts of Asia and Latin America. Her experience of living and traveling internationally has given Dyan sensitivity to, and an appreciation of, other cultures, and the different business and social contexts in which French and other international clients operate.
